"Ever notice how much easier sex can seem after a drink (or five?) What’s up with alcohol and sex? It is commonly believed that alcohol lowers our inhibitions, which, to some extent, is true. Drinking can definitely loosen us up, and make sexual anxiety a hazy memory. But alcohol is a mood-enhancing drug, which means, that drinking often elevates the feelings you were experiencing before consuming. In other words, it is rarely the alcohol itself that makes you feel passionate, but the company and location in which you ingest it. Of course, alcohol does have a physical effect on the body. After a drink or two, heart rate increases and warm rushes in the body can occur, mimicking the physiological signs of arousal. The problem with drunken hook-ups, of course, is that they can lead to rash, unwise decisions, such as unprotected sex. Sex on alcohol can be hot—but it can also be horrible. Be smart about combining your vices.
